Are you searching for some inexpensive tips to transform your patio or deck into a nice seating area for the family this summer? If so then you’ve come to the right place. Today I’m sharing some budget-friendly patio makeover tips that will change how you enjoy your backyard this year.
During the summer season, many will gather to enjoy a BBQ or some outdoor fun together. Are you looking to transform your patio into a beautiful seating area for your family and guests?
You’ll enjoy the tips I’m sharing today. I wanted to share some budget-friendly ideas that can help you create a magical space to enjoy all summer long.
Budget Friendly Patio Makeover Tips
Create a Focal Point
A focal point serves as a way to encourage the family to sit around a certain spot on your patio. This could be a homemade table in the center of your patio or a fire pit that’s safe for use on a patio.
The point is that your focal point should be something that invites your family to gather around and enjoy time together on the patio this summer.
Build Some Wooden Benches
Add built-in seating options to your patio without going over the budget. You’ll find that scrap wood such as two by fours and plywood will work to craft up some wooden benches.
Add some bright inexpensive cushions to sit on – bright colours will make your patio pop! Or stick with a natural cream colour, whichever you like.
These benches can fold up when not in use or remain a permanent bench all year round. You’ll need to measure and cut the homemade wooden bench material and plan out the best seating arrangement for kids and adults to sit.
Get a Grill for the Patio
Don’t forget about how food can bring families together! Even better is an outdoor grill like this one so you can cook on them!
Consider making a fire pit that can be used as a grilling area for meals or get your grill all shined up to place on the patio for use during your family gatherings.
Having a way to cook budget-friendly meals over an open fire is wonderful for family lunch or dinner time. It usually saves on dishes and you get to enjoy conversations on the back deck.
Make a free fire pit made from a circle of rocks like the one shown above. If you want to grill a steak, just put an oven rack on top to hold the meat and foil packets of veggies!
All you need is some campfire sticks like these ones for making hot dogs, marshmallows and Smores.
Search for Supplies
Don’t forget about the supplies you may have laying around the home from any other wood projects over the years. Take an inventory of what type of wood and sizes of wood you have around.
Use these to create a small picnic table area for younger children to gather or a larger bench seating area for the adults. The picnic table can double as an activity table for your kids.
Good seating will help encourage your whole family to relax in the backyard. You want everyone to feel comfortable without spending a lot of money.
Use Wood Chippings
Using mulch is a very inexpensive way to add beauty to your patio area. Simply spread some wood chips around the outer edge of your patio so that it has a beautiful appearance.
Search out a landscape or garden center close to you and ask if they sell mulch. For less than $50 you should be able to get enough mulch to cover your flower beds, make a walking path or cover the surface of your children’s play area.
This is a fabulous way to increase your landscape outdoors without breaking the bank.
Ask the Neighbors
Don’t forget to ask your neighbors if they have any scrap wood or supplies around their house that they may be willing to part with.
You may be surprised to find that many of your neighbors friends are willing to give up some of their outdated patio supplies. Are any of them buying new outdoor furniture? See if you can have their old set, then make a budget-friendly patio seating area for your family.
Lastly, when it comes to starting your budget-friendly patio makeover, use your resources and supplies found at home. Don’t spend any money at your home improvement store without using what you’ve got.
You can make a beautiful backyard patio seating area for kids and adults by using wood scraps and other supplies found at home already.
