- Never sell yourself short. Don’t assume that the knowledge you possess or the talents you have are common. Not everyone has what you have, so make the most of it.
- Market yourself, starting with close friends and family. Talk about how you’re looking to say, sell your sketches or paintings. Maybe a friend’s aunt wants a picture for her living room.
- Perfect your art. Practice whenever you have the time. The more you improve, the higher your chances of earning money.

Photographers can sell their work to sites who stock photos and other images. You could also set up a small part of your home as a studio and do portraits of friends and family. Word of mouth publicity will get you more work if you are good.
If you love cooking, you can upload videos of how to make the perfect Lasagna or make the yummiest donuts on You Tube, you can teach an online class or even one at home. You can also sell some of your stuff like cookies and cakes, online.
If you’re a painter, sculptor or some other kind of artist you can sell easily sell your work online or teach classes. You can also take up assignments for a fee. Use your Facebook, Twitter and MySpace accounts to advertise your skills and solicit orders.
Many firms announce slogan or caption writing contests which usually have cash prizes. If you’re gifted with words, enter such and other writing competitions where you will be able to earn something. Perhaps you could write blogs where you can ask readers to contribute.
