Looking for ideas for planning your wedding?
A wedding is a wonderful time and every bride wants to have a wedding that everyone will remember.
Starting to plan your wedding
When it comes to planning a wedding, there are about a million details that come into play. The decision making for some things is easy. Great! But other decisions are more difficult.
One of the first questions that might pop up is do you want to hire a wedding planner?
Hiring a wedding planner is an expensive option, yet many couples make that a necessary part of the process. And having a planner makes it a lot easier on you and the entire bridal party. But they are expensive.
If you are a creative bride and have the help of a few of your bridesmaids, you can create and plan a wonderful wedding without using a wedding planner.
Get yourself an awesome wedding planner like this one from The Knot.
Websites like TheKnot and the Wedding Wire have planners that you can personalize and keep track of everything.
Having a few extra family members to assist will help a great deal as well, especially on the wedding day itself.
You and your bridesmaids will certainly be busy enough without having to fuss with details beyond getting dressed.
Your Wedding Theme
One of the first things to make a decision on is the theme of the wedding itself. It’s important for the bride and groom to sit down together and develop a theme.
Do you want to have a beach themed wedding? A country style wedding, complete with quilt covered hay bales for guests to sit on? A forest themed wedding?
Take the time to figure out what you want as your predominant theme before making other decisions.
A Wedding Budget
And here it comes. Possibly the MOST important decision. One that hopefully both you and your future spouse agree on.
It is vital to create a budget. Weddings can be unbelievably expensive, with most formal affairs costing at least $40,000. Weddings costing more than $100,000 are not unheard of.
What you don’t want to happen? Finding out after your special day is over, that you spent $12,000 more than you planned on.
Remember that this is one day in your whole life together. Granted, it is a very important day and one which you want everyone to remember.
That does not mean that it has to be over the top and put you and your new spouse into debt.
Some of the million other wedding details
There are many facets to wedding planning, from booking a reception hall to a photographer, to bridesmaid dresses and about a thousand other things.
Ceremony location, reception location, styles of tuxes or suits for the guys….it seems to go on and on. Good thing it is so much fun!
When it comes to decorating the church and the reception hall, put your thinking cap on to figure out ways to provide a wonderful setting without breaking the bank.
Planning Sessions with your Wedding Party
Have a planning session with your bridesmaids and perhaps the mothers of the bride and groom.
Go over your proposed theme and ask the attendants to provide some great low cost ideas.
Regularly hold these planning sessions to keep brainstorming. Get progress on planning from the other volunteers in the group.
First Wedding or will there be a Blended Family?
If you happen to be marrying and are creating a blended family, think about a symbolic gesture unifying the new family.
Everyone blending into one family – it speaks volumes about your commitment, not only to your future spouse, but to the children involved as well.
