Save Money on Your Christmas Decorations

Share this Post:

The holiday season can often bring a heavy hit to your financial budget. We find ourselves trying to spend less in different areas. If you can save money on your Christmas decorations, that money saved can go elsewhere.

There are presents to buy and maybe some traveling to take into account. Special foods and baking supplies have to be purchased and then there is the Christmas tree that needs to be bought.

But you know, decorating your home doesn’t have to take a back seat when it comes to expenses. You can still decorate your home without breaking the bank.

How to Save Money on Christmas Decorations

Make your own Christmas Decorations

The first thing you can do is make your own decorations. Wrap small empty boxes, add some metallic ribbons and place them on side tables.

There are plenty of websites, such as Pinterest and YouTube, that can show you how to make beautiful Christmas decorations without having to buy anything.

Another great website is Hometalk, which is full of craft projects! If you’re a creative person, this might be the perfect solution for you!

Price Matching

Around the holidays a lot of stores are willing to do a price match. If you found a certain decoration online, print it out and go to a store you know has it.

Stores are really trying to push their inventory over the holidays so it’s likely you can get their decorations for much less.

Granted this won’t work everywhere, it’s at least worth a try.

Second Hand Shopping for Decor

Second hand shopping is another way to save money on your holiday décor.  Going to a thrift store is a great way to save money on your decorations.

Sure they items are previously owned, but more often than not a thrift store still has standards.

These items are previously owned, but more than likely the store isn’t going to charge you for items that are broken.

Upcycle Items into Christmas Decor

You can always reinvent items that you already have.  Take your existing Christmas decorations and add some sparkles and glam to them.

This will liven up your old décor and turn it into something new without having to spend a ton of money. Similarly, try taking some things from nature and making decorations out of that.

Gather pine cones and cedar boughs to help decorate your home.

Pine cones, berries, and pine trees branches are all classic Christmas decorations that you can find in your own backyard!

Make sure you don’t spend more than you have to this Christmas. Get creative with your decorations and you’ll be able to have a jolly holiday.

You won’t have to sacrifice your home’s holiday cheer just to save some money.
